ABOUT US

Soccer Without Boundaries is a grassroots volunteer group has grown into an innovative multicultural outreach program aimed at integrating new Canadians into their community. Soccer, music, and connecting is something they all share, regardless of their culture, creed or nationality, and Soccer Without Boundaries is designed to bring them together. It breaks down barriers and lets children feel that they belong. It allows them to build self-esteem, develop leadership skills and strengthen social relationships through teamwork, fair play, belonging, participating, and conflict resolution. It also provides their parents and families with a means to volunteer and get involved.

Leadership

Among our older kids, there is another opportunity to belong and contribute. Those turning 12 have a chance to join our leadership development program. Most of those volunteering at our after-school program and our summer camp are young people between the ages of 14 and 20.   Early in January, we treated 42 of our 58 volunteers to a night of bowling and pizza. For some this was a “first” as their cultures reserve bowling for men only. Among those in attendance were those New Canadians who joined our soccer camp kitchen team last August. Friendships were strengthened while everyone reconnected.
